Purple, Purple, Purple!!!!

Hey All:)  This weekend just flew by, I can't believe it's already Sunday!  I didn't really leave the house much, I mainly just checked some things off of my to do list, which is great in my book!

The first thing I did this weekend, as I explained in my post yesterday, was try to pick some colors out for our bedroom.  I'm in the process of updating it:)  So, these were our choices that I picked out:
And we ended up choosing the 2nd one on the bottom row for our accent wall and then the gray one in the top row which is the 4th one from the left:)  I wanted to choose a purple that was light enough to paint a stencil on if that's what we decided at a later time.

Keep in mind that we are still in the process of decorating and putting our room all together, but this is the before pic:

Before

My bedroom was very light before and I wanted to go with a completely look/color palette.  Before I started painting, I had to clear the room, wipe down the trim and walls, vacuum, lay down the newspaper, and put tape around our trim.  I did the majority of the painting, but the hubby helped with trimming because I'm a terrible trimmer!  These are some pictures of what the painting process looked like:

After all of the clearing out, painting, and putting everything back together, it took about 5 hours.

This is the after picture(so far):

I really like the contrast of the comforter and the pillows against the purple wall:)
I thought the white sticks really make a statement against the purple wall.

I have left over of those white sticks and I'm planning on using the leftover to make wall decor by my dresser!
My plan was to paint our room over Thanksgiving break, but I just couldn't wait!  So, I'm ahead of schedule which is great!  Now, all I have to do is:
1. Refinish my dresser
2. Make some wall art
3. Make some curtains
4. Have the hubby put up some trim around the windows
5. Possibly find some decor for our dressers

Yay!!!  I am soo excited how this all turned out:)  I thought that it might look too dark, but I think it turned out wonderfully. I was thinking about putting stencil on the accent wall.  You can look at this post to see which one I had in mind:  The Verdict is In or do you think I should leave it how it is now?  How do you like the color of the walls and the contrast against the comforter?

Since I'm participating in 24 Days of Thanks, this is what I'm thankful for today: a the greatest mom a girl could ask for:)  She has been by my side through every step of my life and she would do just about anything for me!  I love her dearly and wish I lived closer to her, so we could spend more time together:)  Love you, mom!!!

  2. Thanks Janae! My hubby helped me pick out the purple color. I almost went with a darker purple, but I'm glad that I didn't. Thanks for stopping by:)
