Basement Reno

There has been quite a few changes in our basement bathroom that I wanted to share with you lovely ladies:)  I have to give credit where credit is due and give all of this to my wonderful, fantastically handy hubby!!!  He has been working his butt off and still is.

I knew that I wanted to have a teal, gray, and white color scheme for our basement.  I wanted to carry this color scheme throughout our whole basement, especially since most of it would be open to the other rooms.  I heart the crisp, fresh, and bright feeling that teal packs:)  Teal is, as you may already know, my favorite color of the year!!

After a lot of convincing the hubby that the color would look FAB on the walls, we ended up with this shade.  When it was first on the walls, I was like OMG, holy brightness, where's my shades!?!?!  Then after a while of getting used to the color, I wouldn't change it.  I have to thank the hubby bunches for letting me keep this color because he isn't a fan.  He always says whatever makes you happy:)  Isn't he the sweetest!?!?!  (Cue the Awwww's)  Plus, you know that guys usually don't have a knack for decorating!

Caution, Work in Progress!

Hey All:)  I am very excited for the way our basement bathroom is looking, so far.  I have my wonderful husband and my father in law to thank for this:)  The hubby has put a lot of hard work into this and I'm just so lucky to have a hubby that is a handy man and can do just about anything he puts his heart to!    It's not finished yet and it will probably be a little while, but I picture it all in my head:)

Not only has the hubby been working away, but we bought a lot of fixtures, and things to complete the look of the bathroom.

Thinking Summer:)

Wednesday is almost here, already which means we are half way through the week!!!!  This weekend I have something fun planned with my friends to go see The Vow and try to catch up over supper!!  I truly cannot wait:):):)

This week I have been lacking on my crafts:(  I still have yet to finish a project I've been working on for almost 2 weeks...yikes!  I need to get back onto the craft wagon...lol!  Since I have my summers off, I have been thinking alot lately of all of the things I need to try to work on during the summer months.  Doesn't it always seem like you can never get caught up on either house work or organizing?  I know that I ALWAYS have things on my "To Do List".

I thought I would make myself be held more accountable by adding my long list to my blog.  Maybe then this summer, I will be more motivated to check things off:)   Sometimes it helps me to write it down....it's at least worth a try again!  So here it goes:

- Make a garden that has: watermelon, cucumbers, tomatoes, beans, and onion

Update on Renovations

Another crazy day weather wise in Iowa!  We go from rain yesterday and in the high 40's to snow, sleet, and drizzle in the lower 30's today.  It serious is like a blizzard out there!  Oh..well, at least I made it home safe:)

I haven't posted anything recently on the reno of our basement.  It sure is coming along.  We don't really have any walls up yet, just studs, and our shower, but it sure has changed since the beginning of the year!

Walls are all up!  Plumbing is ready in the bathroom:)

Well, just like many of you, I am addicted to Pinterest whether I'm looking for different crafts, recipes, or just inspiration.  I have been finding and pinning a lot of different inspiration on my Pinterest boards:)  Some of the pins I have found on Pinterest while the other ones have been from random blogs, websites, or HGTV(gotta love it).

Ever since the hubby and I got hitched over the summer, I have been ordering things non-stop from the fabulous Shutterfly!  I just can't get enough of it.  Plus, the best part is that they run such great deals or give you such wonderful coupons you really can't pass up purchasing pictures or arranging a perfect picture book:) 

Don't get me wrong the process of putting a picture book together, especially one where that you tweak, can be very time consuming, but so much fun:)  I just made one for our honeymoon to Hawaii and this is a sneak peak of some of it!

On Shutterfly, they actually have a place where you can customize your book to whatever your liking may be!  That is just what I did and i love how it turned out!  Don't you?


On top of that, I just recieved a $20 coupon on any purchase from Shutterfly.  Of course, I had to order some pictures.  Here's to hoping that they turn out really nice!!!!  I'm crossing my fingers and toes because I just may be making a DIY photo canvas to use in our basement.  I hope it turns out:)

Hey All!!!  I have some very exciting news to tell you and of course it has to do with our basement renovation:)  We went to our home away from home, Menard's and saw that they had our vanity choice on sale along with our counter top for our bathroom.  I just had to have my hubby take a picture of the samples, so all of my followers could see our progress or should I say choices!!!

Some Basement Inspiration:)

Well, I have been keeping myself busy lately with finding some inspiring basement ideas!  I want to take some inspiration a little here and a little there, piece it altogether, to mold it into what we would need....  So, here are some different ideas/pictures that I have found from HGTV on Rate My Space and a couple other blogs!  I just have to say that I LOVE Rate My Space (HGTV) part of the website because it is ordinary people doing real reno's and special touches to their homes:)

 Here is one idea that I wanted to try for our stairway going to the basement:

This is tiny I know:(  Look at the paint job though....it is very neat!

I would like to do this to our entryway down the stairs to our basement...I don't know how this would work though..hmmmm?!?!?  i like the idea of the neutral striped colors:)

Let me explain what we are planning on doing, we want to have a bar/ table area on one side,

New Year = New Me & New House:)

Hey there fellow Bloggers!!!  It sure has been a while since I've been on here!  I have been busy with putting away Christmas gifts and finding new homes for them:)  Our house is already short on storage and yet we still have to figure out what to do with our gifts...YiKeS!!!

The hubby and I had a fabulous holiday!  It was spent with family and we had TONS of yummy food.  I can't believe that Christmas is once again over with!  It always goes by soo fast...    I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday and will be enjoying the new year to come!!!!
